Nicole holds a Master of Education degree from Simon Fraser University, successfully completed her BC Provincial Instructors Diploma as well BC Adult Education Diploma, is a Certified Travel Counsellor, plus holds credentials in Hospitality from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association. She has also contributed back to the tourism industry by leading workshops and seminars across Canada in both English and French.

Nicole thrives in environments where team work, innovation, and energy lead to a better life and work experience for people around her.

    Nazmi Kamal
    Nazmi KamalEducation Coordinator

    Having been constantly on the move, Nazmi has finally found his new home after being in Vancouver for the past eight years. Born in Dubai and educated in Switzerland, he worked in Amman, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Zurich, Bern and now in Vancouver. He specializes in convention management, food and beverage and tourism education. Armed with an MBA in Hospitality Marketing and a Master of Science in Travel and Tourism Management; Nazmi also possesses certifications in adult instruction, financial decision-making, food and travel writing as well as others.

    Nazmi launched his career as a service trainee in Zurich’s very own Baur Au Lac Hotel in 1999 before venturing into several world-class establishments in the following years including Abu Dhabi’s iconic Emirates Palace and Jordan’s Royal Convention Center just to name a few. As a dedicated hotel and tourism enthusiast and a well-established conference planner, his past projects exposed him to several accomplishments in destination marketing, tourism research, education and restaurant management. He chose a life-long journey of learning and eventually decided to enter the field of teaching and academic administration.

    Nazmi’s passions include cooking, wind-surfing and scuba-diving. He also tremendously enjoys his family life.

      Canadian born in Costa Rica with over 20 years of national and international experience and exposure to the tourism industry as tourism educator and consultant, Luis has lectured, trained and has given numerous courses in many institutes at different colleges and universities in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Luis has also published several papers on sustainable tourism best practices and tourism environmental services and pro-poor tourism development and economic linkages. He is a pioneer of ecotourism planning and development around the world. Luis holds a Masters degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

      Luis is a former member of Costa Rica’s national fencing team, where he is a proud recipient of the national championship and gold medal for Carleton fencing varsity team for intra-universities competition.
        Faye FindlayInstructor
        Faye has been teaching for almost twenty years. She holds a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia. She brings a wealth of experience to her teaching as she has travelled the world for over thirty years. She has lived in London, England and Seoul, South Korea where she taught at Korea University for ten years. She establishes a comfortable, relaxed and fun atmosphere in her classroom that encourages growth and learning in adult learners.
          Joanna Patiag Instructor
          Joanna was a flight attendant for Emirates Airlines with over 7 years of flying experience. Her previous position was as a cabin crew in the First Class cabin. She has also worked as Cabin Manager for both Economy class and Business class. Her dedication to safety as well as excellent customer service has earned her Emirates’ prestigious Najm Award.

          Joanna has travelled extensively in the course of her career, but she also enjoys personal travel. She has gone on safari in the Masai Mara, hiked to the top of Tiger’s Nest monastery in Bhutan, seen the view from Machu Picchu in Peru and stood in awe of the glaciers of Patagonia in Chile, just to name a few experiences. She wants to share her knowledge of the airline industry and her enthusiasm for travel with her students. She hopes that, like her, they will always strive to keep on discovering.
