Nicole holds a Master of Education degree from Simon Fraser University, successfully completed her BC Provincial Instructors Diploma as well BC Adult Education Diploma, is a Certified Travel Counsellor, plus holds credentials in Hospitality from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association. She has also contributed back to the tourism industry by leading workshops and seminars across Canada in both English and French.

Nicole thrives in environments where team work, innovation, and energy lead to a better life and work experience for people around her.

    Canadian born in Costa Rica with over 20 years of national and international experience and exposure to the tourism industry as tourism educator and consultant, Luis has lectured, trained and has given numerous courses in many institutes at different colleges and universities in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Luis has also published several papers on sustainable tourism best practices and tourism environmental services and pro-poor tourism development and economic linkages. He is a pioneer of ecotourism planning and development around the world. Luis holds a Masters degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

    Luis is a former member of Costa Rica’s national fencing team, where he is a proud recipient of the national championship and gold medal for Carleton fencing varsity team for intra-universities competition.
      Ann Dow
      Ann DowInstructor

      Ann has been working in the Hospitality industry for over thirty years. She got her start in New Zealand running a youth hostel for the Youth Hostel Association of New Zealand. Upon her return to Canada, Ann continued to work in hospitality for various properties from a Front Desk Manager to a Corporate Sales Manager.

      Working in the hotel industry lead to working as a Director of Sales and Marketing within the event, conference and meeting industry for several years before launching out onto her own as an Event Architect in 2004. During this time, Ann was also an active member of the Ottawa Chapter of Meeting Professionals International serving as Membership Chair and then President.

      With her extensive experience in the hospitality industry, Ann began working at Algonquin College, in Ottawa, teaching in the Hotel and Restaurant Management Program as well as the Event Management Program. She also was a Facilitator in their Distance Learning program.

      Since her move to Vancouver, Ann has continued to teach in hospitality and event specific programs for a variety of international and private colleges. She is also a member of the teaching faculty of the American Hotel and Lodging Association.

      Ann teaches a wide assortment of subjects ranging from Customer Service, Project Management, Marketing, Organizational Development and Human Resources. Her experience, love of the industry and passion for teaching has created a rewarding career that keeps getting better!

        Faye has been teaching for almost twenty years. She holds a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia. She brings a wealth of experience to her teaching as she has travelled the world for over thirty years. She has lived in London, England and Seoul, South Korea where she taught at Korea University for ten years. She establishes a comfortable, relaxed and fun atmosphere in her classroom that encourages growth and learning in adult learners.
          Ruby Manaligod

          Ruby is the Accounting and Economics Instructor. She brings over 20 years of teaching experience along with 15 years of accounting practice to the team. She holds the following degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accounting; a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a Master of Business Administration. Starting as a budget officer in a universal bank, she then moved her way up as Chief Accountant of national government agencies. She discovered her immense passion for teaching in the mid-1990s. On the side, Ruby is co-author of three accounting workbooks. She also edits accounting textbooks for a publishing company in Manila. Off the clock, Ruby tries her hand whipping up new dishes. She also loves going to parks for a lazy stroll.
