Business Environment CommunicationsThe Business Environment Communications (BEC) program aims to help students gain a better grasp of Business English, which is required for those who want to pursue academic programs at Eton College. This unique short-duration program is designed specifically for the non-English speaking student who has completed ESL training but is not quite ready for college-level English. With a strong focus on business English in the tourism and hospitality sectors, the BEC program, has several independent modules, with each including a Production and a Skills Development component. Students are assessed on the basis of two levels of University of Cambridge ESOL exams; these exams are an accurate measure of readiness in all four English skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) for entry into regular career programs. Class activities include role playing, auditory exercises, field trips, lectures, presentations, projects, case studies, and production of a newspaper.
