Message From The Campus Director
Welcome to Eton College and congratulations on having made such a smart choice about where to go to college! For those of you returning to Eton, we are glad to have you back as you continue your journey to the graduation stage. For those new students who are just joining our community, we encourage you to make the most of your time here. Your college experience will be what you make it, and your opportunities will only be limited by the limits you place on yourself.
You often hear that Vancouver is a special place, and it is! Its depth of character, traditions, diversity, commitment to academic excellence, as well as its beautiful natural surroundings contribute to making Eton College such an exemplary academic environment. We want you to enjoy the campus and take full advantage of everything Eton College offers and, in doing so, we encourage you to take appropriate personal and collective precautions when living, learning, working, and playing at Eton College. You will find here the small, personal world of Eton College combined with a focus on professional preparation delivered through provincially approved programs—and that is a combination that will prepare you for success, a fulfilling career and a life dedicated to making a difference in the world. You will find here dedicated, caring and inspiring faculty and staff whose top priority is your education and success. I’m convinced we offer the best of both worlds: the personal attention of a small career-based college and the professional preparatory programs normally associated with a college. I am counting on you to make this your best year yet at Eton College. We are here to support you every step of the way
I look forward to engaging with you in various ways throughout your years at Eton College. I encourage you to follow me on my LinkedIn at Kalai Ponniah and check out regularly updated information posted on Eton College Website at www.etoncollege.ca And, of course, I look forward to talking to you on campus and seeing you at classes, lectures and events on the campus.
The first day of college is one of those great transitional moments or rites of passage. Academic life at Eton College revolves around the commitment by students, faculty and the administration to an excellent career-based education. In general, you will find any combination of courses totaling 20 – 25 hours per week —the “normal load”—to be an exhilarating intellectual experience. You will also find that it is a major leap from high school in terms of the work, organization and discipline required, so be prepared! When you arrive at Eton for your orientation day on 03 January, you will be meeting with the Admissions Team to discuss the courses you will be taking, and to get advice and suggestions from them. You will also want to get to know them. Often, they can be your first step toward academic support and help. I am also available to you on all matters essential to your academic success.
At Eton, academic achievement and work experience are fused, so that you emerge as a prepared professional, moving seamlessly from education to employment. We are focused on your future. We are Eton, and we hope that you’ll decide to be part of Eton too.
I look forward to seeing you on campus.
Supporting you is central to our mission at Eton College. We are here to guide you as you become the best version of yourself.
Remember to make it a great year. I will see you soon.
